If you go on tour to other countries such as Greece, getting to know all about the local food and drink is one of the most enjoyable parts of your tour. But it is also an exercise from which we could all learn a great deal when it gets to picking up the healthiest parts of other places. Certainly in the states our relationship with food could be a great deal better if we ate with a little more equilibrium, something that some (though by no means all) other countries have got exactly right. Forget the Atkins diet or Low Carb Diets these next 4 diet observations are garnered from observing the countries with the healthiest dieting features:
(1) Eat lots of fruit and veg as well as whole grains.
Does this one appear obvious? Despite that a great many folks still don’t eat enough. In a great many places meat is seen as a dish to be placed on the side. The Japanese consume mostly vegetables, fruits and grains, and in Greece vegetables are seen as the main meal, not an accompaniment. Six or more servings a day of veg & fruit can lower the chances of heart disease, stroke and some cancers.
(2) Eat at Your Leisure
In countries like Greece, Japan, Spain, Italy or France meals can run on for hours. It is significantly better for your health and diet if you take a bit of time consuming your meals and it should be experienced with family and friends. This both allows you to relax and promotes bonds, whilst also helping to prevent you from overeating by eating too quickly. If the body is relaxing you will digest your lunch more easily.
(3) Cut down your Portions
From Greece to France to Japan the world’s healthiest eaters are the ones who get the smaller portion sizes. Alex Ratchanowski of Coupon Croc has calculated that a dinner in France usually is 23percent smaller than one in America. In Japan food comes in lesser portions and it is no coincidence that it is eaten out of bowls rather than giant plates or platters.
(4) Add Some Spice to Life. Spices and herbs do not purely add tastes onto your food. They also seem to fight diseases. Herbs like thyme and rosemary, garlic, cinnamon and turmeric have each been proven to give healthy effects.
