Save Your Health by using 10,000 Steps

Everybody wants to be as healthy as possible but not every person has the time to do the required amount of exercise to get there. This is one of the reasons that the ten thousand step approach has become famous. The plan is that you take at least ten thousand steps each day (walking) and that can help you get very healthy and cut down on the time that is required for exercise. Walking can be great physical exercise and very low impact. How often have you heard a doctor say "just a single stroll around the block helps your health"?

Obviously walking ten thousand steps each day is not going to be simple. That’s a great deal of steps to take! The nice thing about it is that you’re already probably taking ten thousand steps every day without knowing it. All you need to do is figure out how to add in a couple or few thousand extra steps to achieve this goal. So how do you accomplish that without feeling like you’re spending half of your day walking around?

There are generally several obvious techniques that you can use to increase your step count. Taking the steps instead of riding the elevator is a common example of this. You may possibly also elect to park far away from the entry way of the store or the mall. To further this plan, you can also stay parked in a single spot and walk your shopping bags out to the car as you accumulate them-instead of carting them all over the shopping center as you run your errands. Choosing public transit is great since it includes a walk to and from a bus or train stop which is great for increasing your step count. The greatest way to do it, of course, would be to just take a brief walk each day.

There are also some less apparent methods to increase the amount of steps you take each day. Order your shopping list differently. Most people will write out a grocery list based on the aisles in the stores. You may decide to order your list based on category just like meat, product and dairy. Then shop in accordance with the order of the list. You may possibly find yourself making a number of trips back and forth across the store, but it is a great way to raise your step count. Instead of putting your mailbox inside your door or installing it in a wall of your house, put it out by the curb on a post. This can create a minumum of one or two dozen steps to your count whenever you check the mail every day.

There are many ways to take more steps each day. As you become used to the idea of walking 10,000 steps a day you’ll think of great ways to reach this goal faster. The best thing about this idea is that every single step you take during the day counts toward your goal whether they are on treadmills or to the bathroom and back. Try to have fun with your project!
