Making money online involves getting other peoples’ attention. You need to get people to notice you so that they will notice the products you are selling and the services you are offering. They have to see you in order to see what products you are selling and what services you are offering. Writing viral content is the best way to make this happen. Unfortunately, creating viral content is not really an exact science. Most of the things that go viral are based upon the whims of a single individual. Quite naturally, you can do more things to help increase your chances of becoming more visible. Although it isn’t an exact science, you shouldn’t stop trying to improve your chances of going viral. Here are some things that you can do.
Be unpredictable. If people know you for just one area, or product – then branch out into something new, or create a new product. Don’t be scared, or shy, to let something else from you shine through for all to see. You can create a feeling of anticipation and excitment in people.
You may find that if something’s too predictable, then others may tend to take that for granted. This can shrink your bottom line very quickly. When you do something unexpected, you grab peoples’ attention and they are more likely to spread the word about what you are doing. And viral components are getting your content shared, and being talked about by people and their friends.
Link yourself to someone incredibly popular.
Sometimes all it takes to get people’s eyes on you is to write or create a video review of someone in your niche with a huge audience. If you’re fortunate, and the person likes your content, you could get some reciprocal link activity back to your content – more traffic. Ideally, you want to make your review excellent, or eye catching, so you gain favorable attention and hopefully that person’s audience will give you their attention. If your content is really good, or interesting, your link could start spreading. So that could be just one method to ‘become viral.’
Here’s one for you – pretend to be clueless about something.
Or, you can come clean and really tell them you’re clueless. Naturally, there’s nothing wrong at all with asking for help and telling people you don’t know. If it’s really apparent that you’re clueless, then people will see that and either offer to help or make comments about it. Or, you can default to faking it and then say something totally off-base in your work. Online marketers really do this quite frequently. Just make sure you can live with yourself if you resort to this tactic.
In a lot of ways the compelling factor with viral content is not so much the content, but the ability to grab someone’s attention and make them want to know more. Of course that doesn’t mean that every piece of well done content will be the next major "it" thing on the internet!
